I think I got a heat rash from tanning...this is the fourth time I have went tanning and I noticed through my?
OMG! I am going through the same thing as you! I go tanning now and all of a suddon.. i itch like hell! i put lotion (moisturizer) on .. it helps for a little bit but t comez back after a while. Try some aloe! I gotta go out and buy some in a min.

Hope I Kinda Helped?
Reply:No this is not normal. Are you on any medications that make you light sensitive? If you are on med's check with your pharmacy to see if they can make you sunlight sensitive because that what it sounds like. If you are not on any med's then you might be allergic to the cleaning solution they use to clean the beds.
Reply:your itching is not heat rash,it is from going to long in the tanning bed, start tanning at a slower pace, meaning less minutes and then gradually go longer,i have also found if you use a bed that has the bronzing bulbs that block out the uva rays this will not happen then you can go more minutes.

Can you use a tanning bed if your pregnant?

Are you SERIOUS ... for the love of god ... stay away from tanning beds until these months are over...

Tanning beds give off at least twice as much ultraviolet (UV) radiation as the sun does. The rays from a tanning bed are long-wave (UVA) rays instead of short-wave (UVB) rays that you get from the sun. UVA rays don't burn your skin like UVB rays do, but they do bore deeper into your skin and cause more permanent damage...

Make sure that you don't put anything on the breast area. =)

Its best to avoid putting it over the breast and chest area while breast feeding, but other areas of your body are fine.

What natural ingredient acclerates tanning in the sun?

I've heard olive oil kinda works.

I appreciate your replies...thanks!

What natural ingredient acclerates tanning in the sun?
drink carrot juice an hour before tanning... or put on your skin beer or olive oil. don't listen to the one saying lemon ( really mean!!), because lemon juice in your body will turn black when expose to the sunlight living you stains...
Reply:carrots
Reply:IT IS LEMONS
Reply:http://science.howstuffworks.com/sunscre...
Reply:Carotene which is pro-vitamin for vitamin A. You can find it in carrots as fjgc73 wrote above. The A vitamin is good for the skin and eyes, the lack of it make your skin greasy and pimply but if you take to much it drys your skin. It is dangerous for pregnant women also. Better to see a dermatologist to give you the correct treatment.

Remember that the sun is the largest nuclear reactor in the universe, a sun burn or tan is actually exposure to "RADIATION", NEVER A GOOD THING !!!! BE CAREFUL, the sun is much stronger now than years ago due to Ozone depletion in the atmosphere.
Reply:ambre solaire
Reply:Depends on if your doing outdoor tanning or indoor tanning. Either way you still need to be careful when selecting products. California Tan products seem to be really good. The active ingredient in a majority of tanning lotions is L-Tyrosine. This stimulates your skin into producing melanin which is then oxidized by exposure to uv rays. Just be careful to follow the directions and limit your exposure. If you burn your skin your doing damage that can result in a negative effect. =)
Reply:It all depends on what your skin type is and how much of a tan you want. Everyone needs some level of protection from the sun, mainly because of skin cancer. But, there are other reasons to limit your skins' exposure, like pre-mature wrinkles and dry skin, among others. So, if you're light skinned, you'll need a fairly high SPF so that you don't burn. I am not only light skinned, but I have red hair in the family genes, which makes me burn more than the average light skinned person. So I put on an SPF of 40. I still get some sun, but I don't burn. There are many products out there that work very well, but some are more expensive than others. Price doesn't always mean better. It's the SPF that counts. Most of the others rely on additives to attract users, like fragrance, special oils and such that just drive the price up. I use the Avon line of suntan lotions. They give me what I need and they are affordable. So, it's up to what your needs are and your budget. %26lt;*)))%26gt;%26lt;

Im white and pretty pale, what kind of tanning routine should i take in the tanning salon??
Boooo tanning beds! Use a self-tanner or get a spray tan, it's so much better for your skin. You get quicker results, too. I would recommend the Lancome or Clarins self-tanners if you want to do it at home- they're practically fool-proof and work great on pale skin (no orangeness at all.)
Reply:stay that way. do you want to ruin your skin? dont tan, please please please please! anyone can tan, but it takes real work to stay pale. trust me it looks good and i havent even seen you.
Reply:I'm with MMMMkay.......or you could embrace your lack of pigmentation and not go to a tanning salon.
Reply:if ur a chick stay that way and don't ruin the skin, tanning beds give cancer. but if ur a guy, then just sit in the sun for small peroids of time and gradually increase so you don't peel. peeling is never a good sign. but again most guys don't care if a chick is pale, if ur a hot one then let go of ur pale complex. i'm VERY pale and Mexican so I got it worse off.
Reply:I am assuming that you know the risks of tanning and would like to tan anyways.

That being said make sure that you use a good tanning lotion that is made for tanning beds. i like using one with tingle. Also start of at like only 5 minutes and then work your way up to a longer time if you can handle that and not get burnt. The people working at the tanning salon should be able to help you and answer any questions.

As a side note if you switch between different tanning salons remember not all beds are the same strength and how new the bulbs are can make a big difference.
Reply:Don't. Pale is beautiful too!
Reply:I'm pale and I love it!

I think being white is coming back into style actually, I don't know anyone that goes to the tanning bed or anything any more...

they are right it does take more work to stay fair...lots of sunscreen and hats to shade your face and buttermilk will get rid of freckles just rub it on them everyday and don't expose the area to sunlight and they'll disappear.

What is best self tanning lotion out there? have you used it?

HI! If you're new at this self tanning thing, I recommend Jergen's Natural Glow. It's a lotion with subtle self tanner in it. I love this because the color builds gradually with daily use, is not orange and its hard to mess up because it isn't a dramatic color change all at once. If your a mommy like me and barely have time to shave your legs, let alone spread a tanning product on evenly for 20 minutes then stand around naked for 20 minutes so it can get good and dry before getting dressed...than this is for you. Easy, fool proof, natural and affordable.............thanks

What is best self tanning lotion out there? have you used it?
Good call on the self-tanning instead of letting yourself get skin cancer by sitting out by the pool. I personally use Dove Energy Glow because it's a Moisturizer but also a subtle self-tanner. It gradually builds a summer glow and all you have to do is apply it once a day and by the end of the week you'll be glowing so much the boys can't keep their eyes off of you =). I actually prefer natural and gradual tanners rather than the ones that turn you white to black in a second because that way, in case you bought the wrong shade, you won't look like an orange for a week. Besides, natural tanners suit your own skin tone, you don't really need a shade or tone. It matches your own skin. You should try Loreal Sublime or Jergen's Natural Glow. Those work well and they're not expensive AND THEY LOOK REAL :) good luck !
Reply:dont use those it's a rip off. especially if you do it yourself. you will loook funny if you miss a spot of two. and believe i'm 100% sure you will. it looks as if you're all tanned up at first then like a day later in some parts you're nicely golden and in other parts you're white. that wasn't pretty i don't use those. just go to aruba like i will and do it the natural way. or go to one of those tanning beds.
Reply:Ive never actually used any tanning lotions or sprays, but i would strongly recommend the gradually tanning lotions.

Lots of my friends use the gradually tanning lotions like Johnson's Holiday Skin, because the colour shows gradually and you can also control how dark you want to be. I think the only mistake you can make from gradual tanners is not washing your hands after, but apart from that...its very safe.

Theres also lots of mistakes that can happen if you buy an instant self tanning lotion...you can apply streaky, unevenly and also you can turn orange. The colour would also stay for a pretty long time.

Where can I buy Tanning Alum in bulk.?

This is an old, widely used method for fur skin tanning. When properly carried out, it produces skins with stretch and flexibility. However, alumtanned skins often come out stiff and hard and

must be worked repeatedly or sometimes retanned. Check farm supply stores or a taxidermy supply catalog.

Whats so bad about tanning beds?

like what in them will give u skin cancer. and how many times do u need to use one to get it?

Whats so bad about tanning beds?
The UV rays in them will give u cancer. And also they give you wrinkles at an early age. And age spots on your face.
Reply:no way of knowing. If you're only goin on for a few minutes say once or twice a month that should be fine. In fact some doctors recommend that for people who have skin problems. But if you're going on for 12 minutes four times a week or something, then that's not wise. Also if you've got moles, it's probably not a good idea. My friend had a mole and she went on the beds loads - literally loads. Anyway her mole starting growing and bleeding. It turned out to be nothing but it scared her into stopping and turning to St Tropez instead. Talk to your doctor if you're concerned.
Reply:I tan all the time, actually sunlight is good for you in the right amounts, it can help prevent respirtory infections.

Do you prefer to spray ta or to tan in a tanning bed?

Why? which leaves your skin looking better, and which can camoflague stretch marks?

Do you prefer to spray ta or to tan in a tanning bed?
Tanning bed= less risk of a fake tan, looks more natural, less maintenance.

Spray Tan= no risk of cancer, but if you go to the wrong place can look streaky around your ankles.

Spray tan is probably the safest option but if you're looking for an absolutely perfect tan, go for tanning bed. Personally I think that if you go to a great spray tan place you'll find that the tan you get is just as good. Just have to do some research.
Reply:tanning beds are better because spray tans can leave your hands all orange and even if you get a spray tan professionally done, your skin will start to crack with the oranginess after just a week or so.
Reply:I HAVE to spray tan. The last time I used a tanning bed (even though I enjoyed it so much!) I grew a black mole that had to be removed. Now there's an ugly scar there. I'd rather spray than get skin cancer!!
Reply:I prefer bed to spray...it lasts longer. I get a tanning bed base tan and then im ready for the beach and wont burn as easily. However, tanning bed doesnt camoflague stretch marks. They wont tan. So spray if you have those. But dont turn orange...you dont want to be an oompa-loompa
Reply:spary tan, b/c it has no risk of SKIN CANCER!!

(seriously, people need to start being aware of the risks w/ sun bathing...)

ANYways, they both will give you a tan look, but like I said the spray tan has no risk of deadly cancer, and it develops quicker ( you'll only need to use it once to get very tan, and with a bed you will have to go at LEAST a week to get the same results...).
Reply:hey forget tanning beds i saw final destination 3 and it looks like spray tans are safer
Reply:You should love your skin the color it is, if you're trying to look good, then sure you'll look good, but it's not you, it's you under a mask of deceipt.
Reply:i luv the tanning bed %26amp; have been tanning in one for 15+ years, also i luv laying out by the pool or at the beach...i just never got into that self-tanner stuff, but i think there are some good ones out there now that don`t give an orange appearance to the skin...it`s just a personal preference, really...it`s possible to camouflage stretch marks, my friend had some around her hips %26amp; all from when she was pregnant %26amp; when she started back in the tanning bed they almost disappeared...i think it depends, as everyone`s skin is different...
Reply:Okay so tanning either way will not hide stretch marks. It will only accentuate them more. Now spray tanning while it may be safer and a bit quicker doesn't look natural. It's more expensive and has serious issues with streaking. I've seen women look disastrous. Tanning beds allow you to control how dark you want to get and where you tan. I think it looks more natural, less expensive and less maintenance.

Oh and one last thing. If you do spray tan and then go outdoors you're going to FRY like bacon because you don't have a base tan. Where as with a bed tan you're secure to handle the rays.
Reply:i'm african american, i use the dove and malibu tanning lotion (i've only found this brand at wal-mart) the dove is prettier, and i turns me a nice bronze color without people even questioning it, plus its inexpensive, brings out great muscle definition and make u look slimmer, i'll never go without it, i wondered what would happen if i got in a tanning bed, but i think i'll pass
Reply:either way, its a fake tan.... its not a natural tan.
Reply:The "Tanning Bed" Will Last Longer BUT, You Run The SAME RISKS As "Convetional Suntanning" (Accelerated Skin Ageing And CANCER) The Sprays Are Safer But, Don't Last Very Long Or Work Very Well And Don't Always Produce "Natural-Looking" Results On Every Skintype. Besides Being Expensive. The Best Suggestion I Can Give Is Try Some Of Those "Tanning Accelerator" Lotions. They Give Your Skin A "Booster-Shot" Of The Same Raw Materials Your Skin Uses To Produce A Tan (Coppertone® Makes Several Types And There Are Ones By Esté Lauder And Others) These Give A "Triple Benefit"- 1) It Is Your Own Tanning Mechanisim So The Results Are Totally Natural And It Lasts As Long. 2) You Get More "Color" With LESS Sun Exposure You Save Time And Your Skin From Excessive Damage. 3) The "Tan" Helps To Protect Your Skin From the Sun And You Need Less Make-Up (I Guess That's Actually Four) Just Apply The Product After Your Shower For About 2 To 3 Weeks To "Prime" Your Skin. Then, Wearing A Good Sun Screen "Grab Some Rays". You Can Use Those "Instant" Tanners to Even-Out Your Skin And Enhance Your NATRUAL Tan. Good-Luck!

Well that is hard to determine not knowing your hourly rate or commission percentage.

What I CAN tell you is it might not be worth it. That kind of constant exposure to tanning beds might take a toll on your health. Be on the lookout for recurring headaches or endometriosis.

What is the best tanning oil?
florida has horrible humidity...to warn you. i used to live there.

second -- this is going to sound cliche but true, even though you want to get dark be careful because tanning is already damaging your skin and risks of skin cancer, so make sure you have a sun BLOCK as well...at least 30 SPF since its close to summer. I usually use tanning oil and sunblock, mainly hawaiian tropics...just look around...and i put the sunblock on first. get a oil that has spf in it already too, and put the sunblock prior to going out in the sun...you should also make sure to put it on your ears and spf lipbalm on your lips...those burn too. you just dont know it. have fun in florida!

I think my German teacher may be full of crap. He says Germans hardly ever get drunk. CRAP!

Do Germans really avoid tanning for health reasons?
texasdolly your answer was plain stupid!!!! we dont go get drunk on our lunchbreaks and for what u said about air traffic controllers you deserve a smack upside ur head!!!

germans love their beer and drink it to every occasion or have 1-2 after they get home from work, that doesnt mean they get drunk though! and if they do, the guy above is right they dont get as violent as some americans do..(you see that every weekend when the american soldiers dont know how to act right after a few german beer) but thats not the question...everybody knows that extreme visits to the tanning bed is bad for your health and can cause cancer! but germans go tanning also so no your teacher is wrong!!!
Reply:Beer to German's is well like water to us! I hear!

I avoid the sun, I am Casper's friendly ghost ... that's how white I am! I become Sebastian the lobster and then go back to white.... NO TAN! IT SUCKS!
Reply:I don't know about the tanning beds, but German's will mix Coke in their beer... it comes in Really big glasses and to drink the entire thing, they would get drunk. They can also drink on lunch breaks at work, even Air Traffic Controllers! Think about that the next time you fly to Germany!
Reply:Anyone with any rudimentary form of intelligence avoids tanning for health reasons. Enjoy those svelte tan young ladies now; they'll all look like saddle bags in 10 years. I've watched the transition myself. Modern mummification.
Reply:I went to visit a German school for a day and the teacher was absent for one subject. The students walked to the bar, had a few beers, then walked back to their next classes. I had to go along, of course, to get the full cultural experience.

Stockist for Delph self tanning lotion in Northern Ireland?
This stuff is excellent - it is used by all UK forces abroad (under a different name). You can mail order it from the Internet - just search Delph on Google - or try auravita.com (I ordered through them - they were fine).

What is the best tanning moisturizer?

that has absolutely no hint of orange..

i tried some before and they all left me looking very dark and disgusting :(

What is the best tanning moisturizer?
Aveeno has a fine line of tanning moisturiers. They work really well. The color just doesn't go on all at once or anything, so you don't have to worry about a mess between your fingers and toes. Color gets more and more noticable everyday. And it doesn't dry out your skin either. It's a very nice lotion, it's not greasy or anything. I have VERY sensitive skin, and from the moment I bought it I was expecting to break out in a huge rash. But to my suprise I didn't. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.
Reply:I forget the name, but Jergen's has a good moisturizer that slowly builds up a tan/glow over a week. I've never had a problem with it. :)

Will laying in the tanning bed make your hair fall out?

No. Tanning is horrible for you though. If you're going to go use the stand up. You can get nasty stuff from the beds.

Will laying in the tanning bed make your hair fall out?
i tanned in a bed for 2 years, and no, my hair did not fall out! but, it will give you wrinkles (thats why i stopped!!)
Reply:No, but don't go tanning it's terrible for your skin.
Reply:I've never heard of that before I've been tanning on and off now for 3 yrs and I haven't had no hair fall out.
Reply:No, tanning in a tanning bed will not make your hair fall out... The thing you should be worrying about is your skin, though. Be sure to wear a SPF Lotion of at least 15 on your face ALL TIMES when in the sun or in a tannign bed... Failure to do so will cause pre-mature ageing or skin cancer..

I hope that helps! :]
Reply:"laying" could make all kinds of things fall out. "lying" is safer. Sorry, if you're American, you probably won't understand the difference.

Who's done airbrush tanning?

Did it come out golden like they say it does, or was it pretty much the same as doing it the normal way, maybe just more even?

Did they cover your whole body? I mean, your WHOLE body? ^_^

Thanks : )

Who's done airbrush tanning?
I just had it done today actually! It's not orange at all, they've come a long with self tanners since the orange days...although I remember turning a friend of mines face totally orange in Jr. High...it was aweful...lol. She wasn't allowed to come to my house for a month...lol.

Anyway, I'm going back tomorrow to go over it again to get a little darker...that and even out the spot where my wet dog ran into me when I came home...when they say don't get wet...they mean it...lol.

But it looks really good actually. I'll be honest around the toes is a bit of nusance but I just took a damp rag and dabbed and it blended right in...but don't rub...dab. Anyhow, it looks really natural and I'm fair skinned naturally.

I use to lay in the tanning bed every spring and about half the summer but this year I can't lay because I keep getting these blisters. (not from burning) So I decided to try this because my beautician got skin cancer from a tanning bed so she has it done and she's dark and it looks beautiful. I thought she still layed in the bed until she told me otherwise so when she told me I checked out her feet to see if I could tell and I couldn't.

I would say though that it would depend on the person airbrushing and how good they are at it though.

I would recommend it though from my experience so far. LIke I said, a little dabbing here and there and it's blending right in. I haven't taken my first shower after the fact though so I can only tell you about the few hours after it's done.

Yes, they do the whole body or whatever you feel comfortable with. I wore my undies personally...lol. Oh, I can tell you this too, although they didn't do this where I was today, but I read in a article that putting a little lotion on your feet, hands, knees and elbows a bit before you have it done helps with those blotches that are common to those areas. I didn't think about it today but I'm going to do it in the morning before I go back for the second dose. We'll see how it goes.

(oh, meant to add a little tip I learned just today - I mentioned toes above, ya know, dabbing, well between the toes if you get any on there...use a damp q-tip to wipe it off...it worked wonders) (and I just saw what you added to your question and I didn't go into a booth but I did go to a salon and had someone do it.)

Hope this helps.
Reply:I knew a girl who got a spray tan... it was pretty gross. She looked orange, and it was at a dance.. and when she sweat it was running down her back... ugh.
Reply:I haven't (really, red hair and a tan? Nature knows what it's doing) but many friends have and I think it looks very fake - it's too even. And the color is weird.
Reply:They prefer you wear something to cover your privates. It turns out pretty good. The fist day you look red, but after your first shower it gets more even and turns brown not red.Different salons use different products so it will vary from salon to salon.I guess the best way to find out if you like it is to give it a try.
Reply:Ok, I get a spray tan EVERY week. I prefer it than getting my hair done and it's cheaper. I just wear a g string when I get mine done and they ladies don't care, they see naked girls (and Guys!) all the time so you shouldn't be embarressed about it. The best brands are magictan and liquid sun. Go and do it, you won't regret it (Just don't go anywhere dodgy!)

I went to the tanning bed for the first time today. How long before I see noticable results?

You should see results in 2-3 trips, if you are fair skinned keep the first few sessions to 5 minutes or so, to avoid burning.

I went to the tanning bed for the first time today. How long before I see noticable results?
it depends on your skin tone.. i have fair medium skin tone and you can see the results for me after about five times tanning...
Reply:Did you do a 15 minute session? I guess it depends on your skin tone. If you are fair or very fair, it might take 3 sessions before you actually note a good difference.

I don't tan very easily...I usually burn first, so it takes me 3-4 15 minute sessions before I start seeing a nice golden tone to my skin.

My half-sister is a bit darker than I am (still fair...but more pigmentation in her skin) and she usually looks darker after 2 sessions.

Good luck!
Reply:you probably wont see noticeable results unless you tan really really good. but you will have to go several times, atleast 3 or 4 before anyone else will notice a slight difference in your tan. try getting a tanning lotion also, it will help you tan faster.
Reply:A very, very, foolish and childish thing to do. STOP NOW!
Reply:It depends on alot of things....

Me~ I can go and get in a tanning bed and be blacker than the ace of spades in 4 visits. Its because I tan good, and I'm out in the sun all the time, I wear tan marks year round....

On the other hand, I have a friends child that goes...she's 17, and will not stick her head out in the sun because she is too "hot"..... All she does is turn pink in the tanning bed, even after a month of unlimited exposure, and the most expensive tanning lotions available, she's pink. ROT, I get tickled, because she compares her legs to mine...and then she gets mad. I just laugh and tell her, "Get your buns out in the sun, and you'd turn...but you hide in the house during the day Vampira"....

So..its all dependent on how well you tan, if your using a good product or not, (I tan better without a product) if your used to the sun, or have ever been tanned before....

If this is your first time...and your how old?____ You may not tan well...you may wake up tommorrow with burn marks that peel away to fresh skin again.....

Good luck!
Reply:Generally 24 hours is the normal rate. Of course this depends on how long you went for and your skin tone.
Reply:it depends on your skin type and family background kind of cause i have a middle eastern decent in my family but am also half american so i tan easily it took me 3 sessions

Are there any self tanning products that really work and don't look fake?

The Johnson's and Johnson's fake tanning moisturizer that you put on every day to bring up a light but real looking tan works well for me - although i do get the odd streak! Also the L'Oreal Sublime Bronze gives a really nice shimmer and comes up quite quickly. Piz Buin is also really good! I guess you'll just have to try a couple and see which works best for you! Hope that helps =)

Are there any self tanning products that really work and don't look fake?
I have used Loreal's Sublime Glow. It worked fine and was only about $7 a bottle. But I thought it had a funny smell once it was on me. I always thought maybe other people could smell it on me too. But it did add a bronzed look to my skin without looking orange or streaky.

When is the best time to shower after tanning in a tanning bed?

wait 2 hours minimum.

When is the best time to shower after tanning in a tanning bed?
Taking a shower after tanning will not wash your tan away. The tanning process occurs within the epidermis when melanocyte cells are stimulated by ultraviolet light that causes them to produce the pigment melanin. Melanin production results in the tanned appearance of the skin. Report It

Reply:Right after you scrape the cancer off.
Reply:I would wait at least a couple hours or if you tan say after work or school, wait until before you go to bed before you shower... and if you are a girl, then it's best to shave your legs BEFORE you tan. This avoids removing the top layer of skin you just tanned and also you can get some serious razor burn as well.

If you sweat while tanning, are you losing weight?

just water...

If you sweat while tanning, are you losing weight?
But water weight, not real (fat) weight
Reply:yes
Reply:no u dont,
Reply:Technically, yes.. but you are just losing "water weight". You'll eventually need to gain it back, or you'll become dehydrated
Reply:just water weight. After you have a drink it will be right back.
Reply:Just because You're sweating doesn't mean you're losing weight. Activity makes you lose weight, not tanning.
Reply:not exactly
Reply:You lose weight if you sweat. Prove it to your yourself. I dont know how it works but it does.
Reply:NO. Absolutely not. Our body contains 70% of water n while tanning as there is no physical work done, there is only loss of water-weight due 2 which u may get dehydrated, for which u again need 2 drink lot of water. For loosing some weight u need 2 do some physical workout.
Reply:Do you mean losing weight, or burning calories? Losing weight is all about using more calories than you consume, so technically, you could be losing weight by tanning. You body uses calories constantly, even while at rest, so yes, while tanning you are burning calories. And if you're dieting you could be losing weight. Tanning doesn't really cause your body to burn more calories than it would at rest, though, so if you're looking to lose weight you should find an activity that requires more energy than soaking up sun.

Do the high pressure tanning beds get rid of uva or uvb light or what exactly do they do?

How safe are sunless tanning booths?

Just curious what is contained in the "mist" that gets applied to your skin. If you've done it before how was the quality and how long did it last?

How safe are sunless tanning booths?
DHA is in the booths....go to yahoo and type in mystic tan and go to their website it will tell you everything. Usually lasts a few days to a week....make sure you exfoliate beforehand.
Reply:They're not very safe at all . . it's how much of a chance you want to take. However, they last for awhile, longer than getting misted.
Reply:Well, I have only done the spray one time and I was under the impression that it was a lot safer than your normal indoor tanning bed (the type with bulbs). I was just slightly pleased with the spray. It did not seem to last long and not completely even everywhere. I hope we are talking about the same thing. I went to a hair salon that offered spray on tanning. You could opt to go in the buff, a bathing suit, or underwear to be sprayed. I opted to wear only thongs since I wanted my breasts to be tan; but did not want to show all of the family jewels if you know what I mean. I knew the lady who applied mine and I was comfortable. She then told me how to pose and such and sprayed me with this airbrush like thing. It was a different experience. I don't know what was in the 'mist' but I would imagine it was some type of self tanner. Like I said though, it did not last long and I did not go back. I may have to try it again and keep going for the whole summer. I hope this was what you are talking about. If not, well at least you may of learned something new. Hope it helps. Good luck! :)
Reply:no safer then bein in the sun.

I suggest either hiring a name creation firm or get together with your friends and/or family and throw a "name party" %26amp; have everyone bounce some ideas around. When I use a tanning bed how long is 15 min compared to time in the natural sun?

Tan in the Natural Sun U never know if they clean them after every session and you might get stuck you can never predict how those things are feeling, and it is a SMALL PLACE

Tan is sun

When I use a tanning bed how long is 15 min compared to time in the natural sun?
does it matter?

you'll still end up with leathery wrinkly skin in 15 years and maybe skin cancer.
Reply:About all day. Depends on what type of bed it is, 30min. or a 20min, bed. 15min is about all you need to start with. Used cheep lotion to start with and only use the more expense ones when you seem to not be getting any darker but use some kind of lotion.

Is beinng in a tanning booth for 45 minutes a long time? or like an un-usual amount of time 2 spen in one?

The maximum exposure time in most tanning beds is 20 minutes...at least that's how long a tanning salon will allow you to stay in most bed...in a bed with stronger bulbs the maximum time usually is btw 10-15 mins

Is beinng in a tanning booth for 45 minutes a long time? or like an un-usual amount of time 2 spen in one?
That's a long time. Isn't the regular time like 15-20 minutes?
Reply:45 minutes sounds like a very long time. Stay in the tanning booth only for the time you are told. If you stay a long time, you burn your skin just the same as if you had been in the sun.

What is the best tanning lotion or spray for legs ?

I love Jergens Natural Glow. It comes in three shades. And since it's moisturizer with gradual tanner built in, it's nearly error proof.

Sunless tanners are the way to go. The sun is very bad for you. Self-tanners have come along way in the past decade. Just have to be smart about it. For instance, if you are fair-skinned, get the products that are for Fair....getting the Dark one is not right for you and will turn you orange.

What is the best tanning lotion or spray for legs ?
Bananna Boat....

Reply:Well I'm in Australia so not sure if your even on this continent but it called the Tanning Salon and they are all around the state of WA. The 4-6 minute stand up is the best and the lotion I used was Swedish Beauty, like I mean these stand ups are the greatest for a fast fast sun kissed glow.

In your own opinion, do you think self tanning or tanning outside is harmful in moderation?

Yes it is as you are at great risk for skin cancer unless you use a good sunscreen. Skin cancer doesn't care how old you are or how young you are and it doesn't care what kind of skin you have. It is a very deadly type of cancer if not caught and treated soon enough.

In your own opinion, do you think self tanning or tanning outside is harmful in moderation?
All tanning is harmful
Reply:Yes! Being out in the sun is always doing your skin damage. Even when you are wearing a sunscreen and hat, you really do need to be protected because its easy to catch skin cancers like melanoma. Trust me I use to put oil and tan all the time until my dads friend asked me not to as his sister died from melanoma. Just get a good self tanning cream. Me and my friends all use it! It looks just as good if you follow the directions and your skin isnt soaking up harmful sun rays!
Reply:i think so because it's still radiation and radiation is very harmful to us specially when they dont use sunblock.
Reply:I believe self tanning can be harmful because your skin is absorbing all of the chemicals in that product. Tanning outside can be harmful if you overexpose your self. Sitting in the sun for 20 minutes a day is supposed to be very healthy for the body. You get calcium that you can only get from the sun.
Reply:Tanning is not a good thing. You may look good for a while, but it takes its toll on the skin. I know a lady who lays out every day by her pool in the summer and goes to the tanning bed at least 3 times per week. Her skin looks like an alligator bag. But she seems to be alright with that. All I'm saying is that tanning whether fake or real is bad, really bad for your skin. Skin cancers really hurt when removed if they can be removed. So, THINK ABOUT IT BEFORE YOU TAN.
Reply:in moderation it is not harmful.
Reply:I feel it will accelerate the aging process.

I'm going mystic tanning, whats the best way to prevent orange hands?

i used to work at a salon, and make sure you don't overdo the hand cream that they give you, and make sure you get it inbetween your fingers.and if you do get alot of cream on your hands, just rub it in really really good and inbetween your fingers, also, leave some cream (if you have long nails) below the nail so that underneath does not turn a different color than the rest of your body.

oh and don't put the cream on the bottom of your feet just on the top and make sure you get inbetween your toes, and if they give you booties don't wear them, just put them in the booth and place them under your feet and slide them with the diff. positions so that the bottom of your feet don't turn orange :P thats my lil secret haha

I'm going mystic tanning, whats the best way to prevent orange hands?
Shea Butter Cream on the palms of your hands. also paint your nails!!! it stains if you dont!
Reply:I've Magick Tanned, (I'm pretty sure they work the same way) they have a huge jug of this 'Barrier Cream' stuff in the room that I put all over my hands and feet. Also, they tell you to spray deodorant on your finger nails so it doesn't stain around your nails. They usually have the spray deodorant in the room too next to the barrier cream stuff. Hope where you go has all of this for you to use!

ANY GOOD IDEAS FOR TANNING WHEN I GO TO THE BEACH AND NOT GET burned.?

The reason people burn is because most sunblocks contain lots of waxes, oils and chemicals that trap the heat on the skin causing burning and sometimes a prickly heat rash. To avoid this you should buy a natural suntan lotion, which are hard to find but are worth it. If u want to achieve a good tan then u should'nt use higher than a factor 15, because factors higher than 15 only protect u from the sun but do not allow u to tan

If you can, try tanning salons/tanning beds! They are great for that sun-glow look. However, don't do them too often as they are also have potential dangerous effects.

The feeling in the throat being tight sounds like the allergic thing, take Benadryl. If your thoat still feels tight and you can not breath emergency will give you a stronger dose of Benadryl. But, I think it is anixiety.

Do girls "take care of themselves" when they tan at the tanning salon?

Several girls have told me that most girls do but I do not believe it. Is is true?

I always did, if I was unable to take a little nap.

Reply:I wouldnt think that would be the place, but there are a lot of crazy ladies out there.
Reply:I would hope to think not ( u know most girls worry about tan lines and all) so i think it wouldnt be possible without getting those
Reply:whats wrong with you? you asked this before. this site is not made for your perversions
Reply:I seriously doubt that they do since they have way more self-control than we do! Besides, don't you think doing that would lead to some pretty interesting tan lines?!?!?!

Are there any good tanning pills ?

I got some in the past but they gave me yellowish palms and soles of my feet.

Are there any good tanning pills ?
omgsh don't use pills for anything other than headaches and mucus relief or whatever. tanning, diet, and weight loss pills are moneymakers and don't work. they have really crazy side affects. want a quick, easy , sunless tan? get a spray on! they look great, are cheap, and aren't bad like tanning beds or U.V. rays!
Reply:i heard the pills were worse then actually going to the tanning bad....but sorry i dont know any....
Reply:Wow.

i have never heard of tanning pills...

interesting.
Reply:I'm not sure.

But you can always get a spray on tan, go to a tanning booth. Or layout in the sun. Those are always good.

if you want to lighten your skin and get an even skin tone, skin lightening is your answer.. a whitening lotion will do, but if u want quicker results, use with whitening soap too.. get products without hydroquinone or mercury.. here's the link to where you can buy safe skin whitening products -

PS. use sunscreen with the skin lightening products to optimize your results.

I go to a tanning and beauty shop the beautician there said...?
HAHAHAHAHA...I want to know where abouts you live bud.....tanning shop lol.
Reply:Why did you not asking her when you were there?

Why you asking me for, like i am supposed to know.

edit; eeeeeewwwww ,there was a girl in my secondary school who had camel toe in her crotch
Reply:Could you go into more detail. That sounds pretty interesting.
Reply:She had been shaving girls privates all day!
Reply:you know what she meant
Reply:That's the worst pick-up line I've ever heard!
Reply:she means shes been shaving bikini lines and underneath knickers
Reply:A camel toe is when a girl pulls her trousers up too tight. You get the central seam going right up there, and bulges on either side - which looks a bit like a camels toe. Not an attractive way to dress!
Reply:You are so childish! Cant you think of a proper question to ask. What a tiresome person you must be!
Reply:A cameltoe is wedgie but in the front private part of a girl, It's not actually a wedgie but it looks like it.
Reply:UMMMM. How should I put this. Camel toe usually means when a women is wearing really tight clothing and by her crotch it looks like a camel toe. So, she was probably shaving bikini lines.
Reply:Yeah its girls privates alright but its usually only used to discribe what it resembles when a girls pants are on too tight, its not the correct term in the format she used it herself!!!!!
Reply:You know darn well you can't shave a camel toe. Once you remove the clothing it is no longer a camel toe but just a plain ol' snatch.
Reply:You should have told her the first rule of being a therapist is "CONFIDENTIALITY" you should never talk about a clients treatment even if she did not mention the name!!
Reply:x. lol. you should have asked her to show you her camel toes, you might have got chucked out but it would have been worht the try. lol.x

How can I get a safe but dark tan without going to a tanning salon?

Sunless tanner is definitely the way to go. No tan from either the sun or artificial light is truly safe.

Is there a safe tanning solution that will last for a while?

Go get a spray tan done. Be careful and do your research though. I have had two done for weddings now as I am extremely pale skinned. The first one was great and lasted about 4/5 weeks but the one for my wedding was terrible. It looked like i had been painted gold when I first got it done and the next day(my wedding) i didn't even look any browner.

Is there a safe tanning solution that will last for a while?
Belita Vitex is the best one, u can try it.

Ok so whats the best way to get tan without getting damage from the tanning bed?

Go to a spray on tan salon - some are as quick as 6 seconds and it lasts for days

Ok so whats the best way to get tan without getting damage from the tanning bed?
get sunless tanner. dont use a cheap brand though. i use mary kay and it may be a heck load more expensive than the other kinds but it turns you brown with out turning you orange.
Reply:Tanning is skin damage!! I wouldn't do it. It always appears a fake tan anyway when tanning beds are used. There is NO way of avoiding skin damage. The ultra violet rays age skin taking away its elasticity and causing early wrinkles. So if you keep on doing it-by the time you are 28 you will look like 38
Reply:L'Oreal Sublime dry mist spray tan - simple and very easy to use.
Reply:johnssons holiday skin...; but make sure it drys before u cover it up cuz it will stain clothes!
Reply:Fake It,,there are wonderful tanning lotions and sprays on the market,,,try loreals spray tan it is VERY natural,,,do not over spray though,,,also the body lotions, which build to a tan ,,,use every time you shower or bath,,,Vaseline tanning body lotion,is better now they have changed the fragrance,,,sometimes these fakers!!! smell a little metallic,,,,BUT hey good for you for realising the dangers of sunbeds, and sun damage,,,good luck,,,golden girl!!!
Reply:gravy browning!
Reply:Dont use a tanning bed....
Reply:Don't burn. Go for short amounts of time and wait at least 2 days between sessions, if not more, to make sure you haven't burned. If you turn pink at all, that's a burn and you should cut your tan time down. Use good tanning lotions.

Spray tans are nasty, I have to say, even though you didn't ask. They don't last very long, are expensive and flake off funny making it look like you have some sick skin condition. Moderate sun exposure is healthy.
Reply:Two ways here is the first use tanning lotion or sunscreen and get somewhere you can use reflective sunlignt. Maybe a friends apartment or relative where you can relax and take your time. Prepare yourself as you would going to a beach or swimming pool. The other way is to buy sun tan in a can, there are various brands as there are shampoos for your hair make sure you read the ingredients. Just because you want a tan doesn't mean you want an allergic reaction.
Reply:This is the best way to get tan it mimics the sun and it's not harmful for you.I use the blue one on the bottom of the page and it makes me feel great and look it.

Reply:Cow dung.
Reply:Best is to not worry about being tanned. Stay out of sun, if you are in sun use a good sunblock Neutrogena Dry-Touch Sunblock PF 70 with Helioplex.

I wanted a tan and now I have pre-cancerous cells on my arms and legs and I have to use a cancer fighting cream every 6 months to help keep in from being cancer. You look as if you have leoprosy the red and rough spots are so many.

It's not worth it!!
Reply:Wait till the summer and sit outside
Reply:Get yourself a healing tanning bed that fits on a wall. It works tremendously great. Also tan in the late morning and early evening, that way the suns rays are less intense but you still get tan, thats what i do.

http://products.mercola.com/tanning-bed/
Reply:San Topez tan in a salon will last about 5 days, I have had a spray tan before can be patchy so be careful who does it. A good one is moisturiser with tanning lotion these build up you tan ones.

One thing to remember if you are doing yourself always wipe knees and elbows with a cloth and be very careful around your ankles. Always wash you hands after that is a big give away!
Reply:Spray on Tan (in a salon) every 5 days (if you can aford it).
Reply:Fake Bake is a really good product i use every Sunday and it lasts all week and looks really natural not orange like st-tropez

I still think Ebay is the best for stuff like that. I know a person who buys all of their tanning business supplies on ebay. You can get great deal if you're willing to search around a little.

What should I ask tanning salons in order to find the safest one?

There is no such thing as a safe tan. Tanning occurs when the skin darkens in order to protect itself from being damaged too much by UV rays. Tanning indicates that damage has already occurred. Repeated damage can lead to skin cancer.

What should I ask tanning salons in order to find the safest one?
All are unsafe, all say they are safe and safer than the others. All lie.

Do white supremacists go tanning?

Always wondered . . .

Do white supremacists go tanning?
Yeah, probably. they only want the white race around and no others, I don't think they're against changing their skin color...I mean, if that were the case, white people with naturally darker skin would be on their hit list too, but they aren't.

Can you use a tanning bed while pregnant??

I wouldn't if I were you! After the baby though it can help with you stretch marks! (So I heard!!)

Can you use a tanning bed while pregnant??
some of you are ignorant. PER high risk ob, watch your BP, otherwise tanning is no different than if you werent pregnant. Same with hot bath, streneous exercise, etc. Some of you need to get a clue. Report It

Reply:no
Reply:I have always heard no
Reply:Each doctor has there own theory on that, I went during my second trimester, but I stopped when I got too big. I was concerned that the baby was so close to the lights that it could be harmful.

Also check with the place you want to tan at some won't allow you to.
Reply:I would not use one at all. Being pregnant? No way. I m sure it could do some harm to your unborn baby.
Reply:Why??? Why risk it? Save yourself from skin cancer and premature aging now and think about your developing baby.
Reply:Absolutly not. The tanning salon will tell you know. Its very unhealthy
Reply:no! the uv rays are very dangerous and could harm your baby. please do not take that chance. i know you probably dread looking like a ghost throughout your pregnancy but wouldn't you rather have a healthy baby? i used to tan alot before i got pregnant and i hate being this white but luckily for me, i only have about 5 more weeks. just think about your baby's health, not the way you look.
Reply:no! please dont do that, all that radiation will affect your baby.
Reply:UH NO DUH!
Reply:No..and why would you want toooo??!!!

your baby cant regulate his temperature in the womb and hes 1 degree hotter than you are

your normal body temp is 98.7

so hes 99.7

if his temperature is raised jus 1 degree(100.7) for an extended period of time then serious complications can occur...

He can be severely harmed

Why do you think the doc doesnt reccommend you take hot baths(showers r fine as long as you dont stay in too long) or heating pads placed on your abdomen

If GOD made you pale or with no pigment then jus accept it....stop faking trying to make yourself look like something your not..besides tans are ugly and you people that do it look fake!!!
Reply:no no no no 1,000,0000,0000,0000,0000 times NO THAT COULD DO SOSO MUCH HARM TO YOU BABY
Reply:NO in fact it not good to use not pregnant. Some states are putting bans on tanning beds.
Reply:NO and why the heck would you want to, can't some women not think of themselves for 9 months while they are pregnant.
Reply:lol... how pathetic...
Reply:I wouldn't. You need to be taking care of yourself, not baking yourself into a leathery crisp. Tanning beds are so much worse for you than natural sunlight.

"UV radiation from sunbeds, particularly UVB, may cause cancer by altering the structure of the DNA. Excessive UV radiation will cause premature aging, including wrinkles, and may have a detrimental effect on the immune system.

While the dangers of UVB are widely recognised, it has been convenient to regard UVA as 'safe'. UVA has less chances of burning, it has been called the "bronzing light," but it is clearly associated with inducing aging changes in the skin and in promoting the development of skin cancer. This is because UVA penetrates the skin more deeply than UVB, so any damage to the skin takes longer to detect.

There is some debate as to the safety of indoor tanning compared to tanning outside, due to the nature of how tanning beds work. Tanning beds do emit a much higher amount of UVA and UVB than the sun, but because the user is exposed for a shorter amount of time, the tan does not penetrate the skin as deeply as a traditional outdoor tan. This is why tans created in a tanning bed fade quicker than an outdoor tan, and why many believe that indoor tanning creates less deep tissue damage."

"This does not bode well for the health of the nation. In 1994, a Swedish study found that women 18-30 years old who visited tanning parlors 10 times or more a year had seven times greater incidence of melanoma than women who did not use tanning salons. In another study, people exposed to 10 full-body tanning salon sessions had a significant increase in skin repair proteins typically associated with sun damage, indicating that ultraviolet (UV) radiation from indoor tanning is as dangerous as UV from the sun. And in 2002, a study from Dartmouth Medical School found that tanning device users had 2.5 times the risk of squamous cell carcinoma and 1.5 times the risk of basal cell carcinoma . And yet, even with all this evidence, the tanning salons remain unrepentant.

The tanning industry relies on two misleading arguments: first, that since melanoma is mainly caused by sunburn, "controlled" tanning helps prevent melanoma by building up the protective pigment melanin; second, that UV exposure makes the skin produce vitamin D, which helps prevent breast, prostate and colon cancer, as well as other diseases.

Medical experts refute these arguments. They point out that our diet (especially vitamin D-rich foods such as dairy products and salmon) generally provides all the vitamin D we need. Furthermore, tanning to increase melanin is counterproductive. Tanning, like burning, causes genetic damage to skin cells. "You can't protect the skin by damaging it," said James M. Spencer, MD, director of dermatologic surgery at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City. "Tanning not only increases the risk for melanoma and squamous cell carcinoma, but accelerates skin aging."
Reply:Sure! You can also go whitewater kayaking, bungee- jumping off tall bridges, and skydiving with an aerobatic parachute, but there could be consequences.

If you overdo the tanning you can get skin poisoning or cancer, andnormal sun damage on your belly can ruin its elasticity and leave you with skin sags after the pregnancy. Tanning or not, take vitamins including E, and apply lotions enhanced with aloe and vitamin E on your skin, especially the belly and entire chest. This should minimize loose skin afterwards. No woman wants to see pancakes and an omelette in the mirror after pregnancy and nursing.
Reply:NO
Reply:no its very dangerous get some fake tan honey xx
Reply:NO! NO NO NO NO! You should not tan if you have the SMALLEST idea that you are. It harms the baby and can cause birth defects. So can perming your hair, changing hair colors, paiting with paint that is not low oder...

All these things can have harmful effects on your baby...
Reply:Check out the page for the source below- there are an awful lot of reasons not to use a tanning bed during pregnancy. However, self tanning lotions are totally safe so you can still have a pretty glow without any of the risks. Good Luck with your pregnancy!
Reply:no beacuse the baby will heat up and die

i dont think that is what you want do that when you already had the baby
Reply:No!!!!!!
Reply:In a Bed: There are no studies that provide conclusive evidence that tanning beds directly harm your baby. However, the following are some ways that tanning beds can be harmful to you. Most health care providers advise against any activity that might raise your body temperature, such as saunas or tanning beds. Overheating is associated with spinal malformations in the baby.

Some studies also link UV rays and folic acid deficiency. Folic acid prevents neural tube defects, such as spina bifida and is especially important in the first trimester. During pregnancy, your skin is more susceptible to burning and chloasma, the dark splotches that appear on the face during pregnancy. Speak to your health care provider about the safety of tanning beds during pregnancy.
Reply:when my fiance was pregnant with her little boy she went and he was fine

she stayed in for 15 min at 3 times per wk

since most tanning beds use uv rays instead of heat bulbs there is no big worry
