please respond soon (its for a science project)

Why are burnning and tanning more likley on the beach then in a grassy backyard?
Because the sun reflects off the water and acts like a magnifying glass so you burn faster.
Reply:I would also have to say that the sun's rays reflect off of the water and sand. Because of it being light colored it is just reflected. The grass is darker, and as we all know, dark obsorbs light. Hope that helped!
Reply:It's because of the reflective properties of water and sand. While you only get hit by the rays coming down in a backyard, with minimal rays being reflected back by the grass, a beach makes the solar rays hit you again, from various angles. In other words, you're getting hit from many directions, and thus you are more likely to get burned, or tan quicker.
Reply:I would go with that sand is actually tiny pieces of glass and glass is reflective making the suns rays like triple. Where as grass is non-reflective so the amount of sun rays is less.
Reply:I think it is because sand reflects sun so well, so it is intensified when it get to you.
